Dr. Shane Wingler

Southern Dental Associates is pleased to announce and welcome Dr. Shane Wingler to our practice.
Background and Education
Dr. Wingler is a native of Wilkes county, growing up in Ferguson NC, and a graduate of West Wilkes High School. Having spent a lot of time in the dental chair as a child he developed a passion for dentistry at a young age. He received a Bachelor of Science in Biology, minor in Chemistry, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He then went on to obtain his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the UNC School of Dentistry, a school widely considered one of the nation’s best dental schools.
Dr. Wingler has kept a commitment to continuing education since graduating, particularly in the field of dental implants. He completed the Implant Pathway Continuum in Tempe, Arizona by providing free care to Veterans and is currently training at the Augusta University Maxi-course. Once completed, Dr. Wingler will have recorded over 500 hours in implant training, all to better serve our patients.
Affiliations
Dr. Wingler holds memberships of the American Dental Association, North Carolina Dental Society, Academy of General Dentistry, and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He is also a member of a local Spear Study Club.
Outside of Work
Dr. Wingler is an avid sportsman. He spends a substantial time outdoors fishing, hunting, hiking, and spending time on the water. He enjoys tying and making his own flies for fly fishing and scouting new creeks in the North Carolina mountains. Dr. Wingler loves to share stories and pictures of wildlife adventures from all over the state. When not outside, or cheering on his Tar Heels, he enjoys spending time with his family, wife, and their chocolate Labrador.
