Special Olympics are two words that make a big impact in the lives of athletes with intellectual disabilities.
On the morning of May 10th, East Wilkes Football stadium was filled with over 300 athletes. Athletes from all across the region gathered to compete in track and field events.
The energy from the participants easily passed on to the spectators in the crowd. The parade of athletes was truly a humbling event. If you have never been to a Special Olympics event, you are missing out!
Over the years Special olympics have reached over 4 million athletes, and we are a proud supporter of our local chapter.
Let me win, but if I can’t win, let me brave in the attempt.-Athlete Oath
