Can anyone tell that I’m wearing the aligners?
The Invisalign® aligners are designed to be virtually invisible, allowing you to wear them discreetly without others even noticing. This makes Invisalign® treatment seamlessly integrate into your lifestyle, offering a perfect fit that goes unnoticed by others.
Can I take my aligners off whenever I need to?
You can remove your Invisalign® aligners for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing. Special occasions like weddings, job interviews, or playing your favorite sport or instrument also warrant taking them off. Your doctor will provide guidance on the recommended daily wear time, typically 20 to 22 hours, for optimal results.
Are there any restrictions on what I can eat while in treatment?
With Invisalign® clear aligners, you can say goodbye to food restrictions! Unlike traditional wires and brackets, you don’t have to worry about missing out on your favorite treats. Enjoy that popcorn without any concerns of damaging or getting anything stuck in your braces. Embrace the freedom and flexibility of Invisalign®!
Is Invisalign® treatment painful?
During Invisalign® treatment, your teeth are gradually shifted using gentle and constant force. It’s important to note that some individuals may experience temporary discomfort in the initial days of wearing a new set of aligners. This sensation is often described as “pressure” and is completely normal. It’s actually a positive indication that your Invisalign® clear aligners are actively working to transform your smile.
If you have any concerns or if the discomfort persists, it is advisable to consult your doctor for further guidance.
Sometimes when I remove my aligners, my teeth feel loose. Is that common?
Certainly! As your Invisalign® aligners gently guide your teeth into their correct positions, your gums undergo a process of reshaping around each tooth as it moves. If you have any concerns, make sure to discuss them with your doctor.
Will Invisalign® treatment still work if I only wear my aligners while I sleep?
To achieve the desired outcome, it is important to wear your Invisalign® aligners for a minimum of 20 to 22 hours every day.
Will wearing Invisalign® clear aligners affect my speech?
It may take a few days for your tongue to adjust to wearing Invisalign® aligners in your mouth, which may cause a slight lisp. However, this should subside rapidly, allowing for a smooth and comfortable experience.
Will smoking stain my aligners?
It is strongly advised against smoking while wearing Invisalign® aligners as it may cause discoloration and staining of the aligners.
Can I chew gum while wearing aligners?
Gum has a tendency to adhere to your Invisalign® aligners, so it’s best to avoid chewing gum while wearing them. We highly recommend taking out your aligners for all meals and snacks, including when you want to chew gum.
Can the aligners slip off while I’m asleep?
The chances of your aligners accidentally falling out are extremely low, regardless of your activities such as sleeping, talking, or laughing. Invisalign® clear aligners are meticulously designed to securely fit around your teeth, ensuring that there is no need to worry about this issue. Rest assured that your aligners will stay in place, providing you with the utmost comfort and confidence throughout your treatment journey.
I went on a trip and forgot to take my aligners with me. Will my aligners still fit?
The answer relies on the duration of time you have gone without wearing your Invisalign® aligners. If it has only been a brief period, your aligners should still fit, although they may cause some discomfort. However, if it has been an extended period, it is advisable to consult your doctor regarding your specific circumstances.
What’s the best way to clean my aligners?
The best way to clean your aligners is by brushing and rinsing them in lukewarm water and using the Invisalign® Cleaning Crystals or special cleaning tablets. It’s important that you brush your teeth after each meal before re-inserting your aligners to maintain good oral hygiene.
If I have food residue (like blueberries or pasta sauce) in my mouth when I put my aligners back in, can they become stained?
Yes, that is why it is crucial to brush your teeth after each meal prior to reinserting your Invisalign® aligners. This practice ensures optimal oral hygiene and maintains the integrity of your aligners.
What if I lose or break an aligner. What should I do?
If you happen to misplace or damage an Invisalign® aligner, it’s important to promptly inform your Invisalign® Doctor. They will collaborate with you to ensure that your treatment plan stays on course. This may involve wearing a previous or subsequent set of aligners, or even ordering replacements. Rest assured, your Invisalign® Doctor is dedicated to keeping your progress on track.
Can I order replacement aligners from the Invisalign® brand directly?
To obtain aligners and retainers, it is necessary to place an order through your Invisalign® Doctor, as they are classified as prescription items. If you require a replacement, kindly reach out directly to your Invisalign® Doctor.
What is covered in the Use and Care Instructions for my Invisalign®️ aligners?
Prior to utilizing your Invisalign®️ aligners, we strongly advise all patients, including parents and guardians, to thoroughly peruse these Use and Care Instructions. This comprehensive guide encompasses invaluable insights on maintaining the integrity of your aligners, optimal oral hygiene practices, as well as essential precautions to observe throughout your treatment journey. We further recommend keeping these instructions handy for future reference, and should you have any additional inquiries, please do not hesitate to reach out to your doctor.
Will I need to wear a retainer after treatment to prevent my teeth from moving again?
After completing orthodontic treatment, which could involve braces or Invisalign®, it is generally advised by most doctors to wear retainers. The purpose of retainers is to prevent teeth from gradually shifting back to their original position. It is important to note that each case is unique, so it is recommended to consult with your doctor to determine whether retainers are necessary for you.
What type of retainer should I use?
We highly recommend Vivera® retainers among the various types available. Vivera retainers offer exceptional benefits, as they are virtually invisible and crafted from a proprietary material that is 30% stronger than other leading clear retainer materials. This superior strength ensures that your new smile remains intact.
To create your Vivera retainers, we will use advanced technology, similar to what is used for Invisalign® clear aligners, to custom-make them based on an impression or scan of your teeth. This state-of-the-art approach guarantees precision and a perfect fit for optimal comfort and effectiveness.
How much do Vivera retainers cost?
The cost of Vivera retainers can vary depending on your provider. When you order Vivera retainers, you typically receive up to four sets, allowing you to save on the cost of each set and ensuring you always have a spare set when needed. If you prefer not to receive four sets at once, you can discuss alternative options with your doctor. Additionally, ortho insurance may offer coverage for the cost of Vivera retainers.
How do I order Vivera retainers?
You can order Vivera retainers through your Invisalign® doctor.
How long will I have to wear my Vivera retainers?
The retention protocols prescribed by your doctor may vary depending on your unique conditions and treatment plan. Your doctor will provide specific instructions regarding the frequency of wearing your retainers. As an example, the protocol may involve wearing the retainers full time initially, and then gradually reducing the duration based on the doctor’s recommendation. Eventually, you may only need to wear the retainers at night or even as few as three nights per week. Rest assured, your doctor will guide you through this process to ensure the best outcome for your treatment.
